Is the card inside your digital camera packed with photos, but you don’t know what to do with them? Geared toward photography beginners, this course will introduce students to basic photography and computer workflow techniques. Students will independently shoot photographs in the manual exposure mode under various lighting conditions, merging technique with ideas of composition, color, and action. Weekly assignments will build upon one another, to be presented and reviewed by the instructor and classmates on the discussion board. We will also examine the similarities and differences in technique and workflow between film photography and digital photography. By the end of the course, students will have a working knowledge of how to manage their digital photographs both inside the camera and on the computer. Weekly live sessions will include open discussion, reviews of lesson topics, and exploration of creative techniques.

This course is designed for those with little or no experience in photography. Students should have access to a digital camera with a manual exposure mode. The course includes an optional field trip for anyone local to the San Francisco Bay Area. More details will be provided in class.
