Creativity is the engine that drives innovation. But how do you move from daydreaming about ideas to actually making things happen? Inspired by years of instruction with the Stanford School of Engineering and Knight-Hennessy Scholars, this course is designed to teach you how to get ideas out of your head and into the world in a practical and effective way.
This interactive workshop walks students through each step of the Invention Cycle, from the seeds of imagination to creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Exercises will be reinforced by compelling real-world examples and stories from many of the world’s most successful innovators and entrepreneurs. This course is not just about starting companies, it’s about starting anything and seeing the potential in every problem, no matter the size. Whether your project is a startup venture, a new rock band, or a trip around the world, you will learn tools and develop skills that you can immediately apply to challenges and opportunities in all parts of your life.

TINA SEELIG
Executive Director, Knight-Hennessy Scholars, Stanford
Tina Seelig is executive director of Knight-Hennessy Scholars and director emeritus of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program. For the past 25 years, she has taught courses on innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Seelig received a PhD in neuroscience from Stanford School of Medicine. She is the author of 17 books, including inGenius, Creativity Rules, and What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, and is the recipient of the Gordon Prize from the National Academy of Engineering recognizing her pioneering work in engineering education.
